Galveston Police first received a call Monday from someone regarding “a man walking on the beach” while carrying what was then described as a “bloody knife”, a local department spokesperson Recount the Galveston County Daily News. Following the call, the officers who responded arrested the man – since identified as lawyer Mark Metzger – and handcuffed him. Metzer was eventually cited for disorderly conduct and released.
Metzger, who shared a photo of himself in a suit on the stormy beach earlier Monday, then reflected on the incident on Facebook. In an article in which he also shouted out Tom Araya of Slayer, Metzger said his intention was to bring “positive vibes to sadness and unhappiness” while “restoring our faith in humanity” through humor. .
“So if taking a silly beach walk during a storm in costume, and subsequently being arrested for disorderly driving accomplishes all of that (just released with a class c quote and still unclear on what exactly was illegal in my actions ) – then I would do it all day every day ”, Metzger noted.
Meanwhile, in a maintenance with ABC 13, Metzger noted that he had been doing pranks like this for quite some time now. Complex has reached out to a Galveston Police representative for further comment and will update this post accordingly.
