The moment Australian cricket legend Jason ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie called Isle of Wight cricket star Adam Hose, to welcome him to the Adelaide Strikers T20 squad, has been shared on Instagram.
Adam has signed for Worcestershire for next season but in the meantime he’s heading Down Under, for one of the biggest T20 tournaments in the world.
The 29-year-old joined the Adelaide Strikers as one of their three overseas players.
The former Ventnor player will be a key part of the squad for the Big Bash, which kicks off on December 13.
What is T20 cricket?
T20 cricket (Twenty20, to give it its full name) is an abbreviated version of the game.
Teams have a single inning, limited to a maximum of 20 overs.
A typical Twenty20 game lasts around two and a half hours and was introduced to provide more action for spectators.
He will be joined by Australian batsman Travis Head, who spent a season at Ventnor Cricket Club.
Hose’s former teammate at Ventnor Danny Briggs also played for the Strikers in the 2020-21 season.
In a phone call to Adam Hose, shared on Instagram, Adelaide Strikers manager Jason Gillespie said: “So glad to have you mate. Welcome Adelaide Strikers.
“We’ve been following you for a while and you were someone who was high on our priority list.”
Adam said he was “in the mood” and considers Adelaide a “second home”.
