Health authorities are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man who died in a hospital in Tamworth last week; and a 71-year-old man in Sydney, who had existing health issues.
In a new report, the Human Rights Law Center says one method the government uses to prevent permanent residents arriving by boat from being reunited with their families is to “relentlessly deprioritize” their visa applications. A ministerial instruction directs that applications for family reunification from those who arrived by boat should be given the “lowest processing priority”.
