The exclusive multi-year CA/ACA partnership will introduce NFTs to cricket fans using environmentally friendly blockchain technology.
The partnership will support the growth of the game while supporting players past and present through their historic achievements showcased in NFT Moments.
“Australia has once again led the way in cricketing innovation by entering the Metaverse with Rario and BlockTrust,” said Ankit Wadhwa, co-founder and CEO of Rario. “This historic collaboration is a first in the world of cricket, where a national council (Cricket Australia) and players’ association (ACA) have come together to shape the future of fandom with NFTs.”
Rario, creator of the world’s first Cricket NFT platform, together with joint venture partner BlockTrust, will now help Australian cricket fans understand, collect and interact with NFTs by creating an Australian cricket metaverse of collectibles and games.
“We are thrilled to enter the metaverse with our partners Rario, BlockTrust and the Australian Cricketers’ Association for this historic agreement, which will open up tremendous opportunities for innovation and fan engagement,” said Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia. “The game’s deep connection to its past, the passion of our fans and the appeal of Australian cricketers to a global audience means that the incorporation of NFTs is another way for fans around the world to engage and to be part of the sport.”
Todd Greenberg, CEO of the Australian Cricketers Association, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Australian cricket, and it has been reflected in the spirit of cooperation between the ACA and Cricket Australia with Rario. Once you start learning more about NFTs, you quickly realize that the opportunities for engagement between past and present players with fans are huge. We all look forward to bringing this program to life in the coming months with new and innovative concepts.
Traditionally, collectibles only featured still images, while NFTs can also show the full story of a sporting moment by presenting an officially licensed broadcast vision.
Rario and BlockTrust led a consortium of leading ecosystem partners in the successful provisioning of this project, including ConsenSys and Amazon Web Services.
